Yup, that’s right!  I went to my first ever dance last weekend.  It was SO MUCH FUN!

OK, to be honest, I was so nervous about it while we were getting ready and driving over I thought I was going to be sick.  But, after the first dance, I was having a TON of fun!!  So here’s what went down for me last weekend!

My friend sent me a message on Facebook inviting me and some other girls to the Civil War Reenactment, and then the ball in the evening.  I wasn’t going to be able to make it, though, because I had schoolwork to get done, in addition to other stuff around the house to do.  But then, on Saturday, my mom gave us a list and said if we got that stuff done, and wanted to go to the ball we could.  So my sister and I worked our tails off and got ready and left to go to our friends’ house, where we were going to get ready.

When we got there, we went up to Kristin’s room, and did our hair and makeup and, we got dressed up in real, true ball gowns!  Not silk or anything, but they had hoopskirts and were made for dancing!  So yeah, the hoopskirts are killer for trying to move through the house, and sit in the car and…oh yeah, tying your shoes!  Anyway, so yeah, we headed in to town for the ball.

I was SO NERVOUS about it because, you guess it – I don’t dance!  Not at all.  Well, Kristin decided I was going to learn how to dance, so she told her brother Kerry to take me out on the next dance and teach me how to dance.  Well, lucky me, the next dance was a waltz.  AWKWARD.  OK, see, for those of you who know me, Kerry and I are friends – we hang out, talk, tease and argue all the time.  We don’t dance together!  So…yeah.  But, it turned out to be a really good thing that it was him teaching me to waltz, because he teased me about how bad I was to the point that I was comfortable again – you know?  I was laughing at what he was saying, and not thinking about how bad I was doing. So that was really awesome!

Anyway, so yeah.  Then I danced a waltz with his brother, and a couple reels – one with each brother, and I did The Grand March (which is SO MUCH FUN  – if you’ve ever watched a military ball on a movie, you’ve seen TGM) and another dance with a friend of theirs.  So yeah…not a lot of dances (Danielle dances more than I did) but I had SO MUCH FUN!  😀
