This is a poem I wrote after the Chinook crash in Afghanistan.

Do Me a Favor

Do me a favor
And don’t ever die
‘cause don’t you know
My love is not a lie

I have set my heart
Everywhere you are
You have a part of me
Whether near or far

You say you’ll be fine
That nothing will happen
But I’m begging you, brother-mine
Please, be careful!

War is dangerous, it’s ugly
No one is immune
The trip is deadly
But you don’t have to die

So please, my friend,
I still need you around
Do me a favor, Mr. Manly-man
I’m begging you, don’t ever die
